Self-drive car rental pickup and drop-off locations: We offer one of the most adaptable vehicle rental pickup and drop-off sites. Prior to the delivery of your self-drive rental vehicle, we respectfully require a copy of your driver’s license and passport for our records and emergency preparedness. To lawfully operate a vehicle in Uganda, an individual must be a minimum of 21 years old and possess a valid driver’s license for at least 2 years. An international driver’s license is not mandatory for driving in Uganda. There is no upper age limit for clients to rent self-drive cars. We provide camping gear rental for US$20 per day including a rooftop tent at an extra US$10 per day for clients who want the comfort and added safety of a rooftop tent. Our camping gear rental comprises a ground tent, camping table, camping chairs, cooking pots, silverware, light, and more. We ask that you bring your own sleeping bags for hygiene reasons. For certain self drive clients’ peace of mind, upon request we provide additional spare wheels at our own cost, additional gasoline containers are not permitted and not essential as there is enough of refueling stations distributed all across Uganda and Rwanda. Infant car seats are available for purchase in supermarkets in Kampala and can be installed in the self-drive rental vehicle if necessary.
